Questions?

Everyone deserves a week at camp. Summershine has been making that a reality for decades.

One of Lutheridge’s longest-standing and most beloved traditions, Summershine is a full camp experience designed for teens and adults with developmental disabilities — not a modified version of something else, but a week thoughtfully built around our campers and everything that makes them who they are. Crafts, swimming, faith formation, music, community, and all the joy that a summer week at camp brings — Summershine delivers every bit of it.

What makes this week work is the people who make it happen. Trained, caring counselors serve at a 1-to-4 ratio, meaning every camper receives genuine individual attention and support throughout the week. This isn’t just a staffing number — it’s a commitment to making sure every single person who comes to Summershine feels known, celebrated, and completely at home.

Faith is woven through the week in ways that are accessible, joyful, and deeply meaningful — because every person is welcome in this community, and every person belongs here.

A few practical notes for families & caregivers: Camp involves a meaningful amount of walking, including hills and uneven terrain, so campers should be mobile enough to navigate distances on foot. Campers are housed in comfortable, hotel-style accommodations. Families are encouraged to reach out to our registration team with any questions about whether Summershine is the right fit — we are always happy to talk it through.

Summershine is more than a camp program. It is a community that has been gathering for years, welcoming new faces and celebrating returning ones, and reminding everyone who shows up that this place is for them.
