“Be patient and take things slow.”
On a wet day on the trail up to Cross Rock, a camper in John Martinez’s cabin kept slipping and started to get anxious. That’s when John felt the Holy Spirit tell him what to do.

“Being patient was never my strongest suit.”
John was a first-year counselor, invited to join the Lutherock team by his college roommate. At the top of the trail, a pastor with the group told him she saw the Kingdom of God when he was helping his camper.
How we get you ready.
Lutherock specializes in Outdoor Adventure Programs, so counselors are trained in the skills they need to care for campers in those settings.

Training covers the outdoor skills you’ll use to care for campers on the trail, the rock and the river.
Experienced counselors beside you.
In her first summer, Megan Shackelford leaned on the mentorship of experienced counselors: “They helped me see that being your best, quirky self is exactly what God put you on earth to be.”
Bible study and devotions.
Counselors lead their campers’ Bible studies and devotions. “We created safe space for campers during their group Bible studies and devotional time,” says counselor Jacob Benington.
“At Lutherock, kids face some rigorous challenges, but they are also taught the skills to overcome them.”
