Join our #campstrong Hurricane Recovery Effort

Dear Camp Friends,

As the camp community works tirelessly to recover from Hurricane Helene’s devastation, a special #campstrong gift today will go a long way toward securing a robust summer camp program and welcoming groups to our holy spaces for fall and spring programs.

Luther Springs and Lutheranch survived the storm safely. Sadly, Lutheridge and Lutherock did not. Both sites sustained significant damage from downed trees, mudslides, and wind. Recovery started as soon as the rain stopped. Staff and volunteers have been working around the clock to assess, triage, and begin removing trees from roads and buildings. Lutherock’s progress will be slower and will require us in some ways to wait for professionals to remove dangerous trees and repair significant road damage. This will likely not be covered by insurance and will be expensive. Lutheridge is already benefiting from volunteers and staff clearing the roads and professionals removing trees from roofs on our buildings.

Camp teaches community – and our camp community is shining right now. Camp teaches cooperation, generosity, patience, strength, how to ask for help, how to talk about faith, and how to live out faith. It is no surprise that the camp community is already showing up.

During this time of hurricane recovery, we invite you to join us and make a gift of $25, $100, $500, or even $1000 or more to our #campstrong effort. We currently have no access to “snail” mail, but the ability to continue recovery and movement toward reopening is essential. Gifts made online are accessible to us almost immediately. You can give at www.novusway.org/give and select “Hurricane Recovery/Where Needed Most.” Because this will be a long road, if you’d like to make your gift recurring (monthly), you can select that option on the form.

We will update you on our progress as the days and weeks continue. We both feel extreme gratitude for our camp friends and family. Thank you.

PS. Mailed checks will likely take a couple of weeks to reach us for processing, but we trust the post office will keep them safe until we can get them. If you want to ensure your gift reaches us immediately, please give online at www.novusway.org/give.
