Greetings Camp friends,
Before we dig into the current status of Lutheridge and Lutherock, please join us in praying for all those in Florida and our staff at Luther Springs as hurricane Milton approaches. We are bracing ourselves for another unknown.
As of today, at Lutheridge, we have some larger groups coming Thursday – Monday to do additional work to remove and work up the downed trees. It is starting to appear that a tornado hit Lutheridge amid the storm. We are turning our staff’s attention toward repairing damaged buildings. After this week, we will schedule Work Days or events for groups to register for and join us as we continue to chainsaw our way out of this. We have water in most buildings now (not potable), and the power company is working and staying on campus tonight. Fingers crossed that it won’t be long before we are back up and running.
We met today and agreed to cancel all events through Saturday, October 19th at Ridge. We will work with those planning to be on campus the week of October 21st to determine if we can still host you. It feels promising! We feel that if we have power by next Tuesday, we can welcome you with food, hot showers, and camp love.
At Lutherock, generators are running at Founders and Crowsnest to help dry things out. Nathan is working with local officials to utilize our campus for emergency workers, but we are taking their lead on what they need from us. Events through October 31st have been canceled. The folks around camp have power, and we have high hopes that it will not be long. We still need to have the roads evaluated in some places.
The full board met last Wednesday on Zoom, and this morning our Executive Committee met. The board members share our gratitude for you all for everything you are doing. While we continue to navigate the disaster, we are not taking our eyes off the critical turnaround work we have been doing together for nearly a year.
Thank you all for your continued love and support of these amazing ministries we share. You remind us each day that we are not alone! God is showing up in messages, gifts, gloves, and hugs.
