It’s with gratitude and sadness that we inform you that Pastor Mary and Pastor Tim Canniff-Kuhn have shared with us their decision that this past summer of 2019 was their final summer as Program Directors at Camp Lutheridge. They will conclude their call at Lutheridge at the end of 2019 and will lead a few select programs, like Wild Women, Create In Me, and Handbells, in the spring of 2020.
For over 25 years, Pastor Mary and Pastor Tim have brought a high level of excellence and impact to the ministry at Lutheridge. Summer campers have been kept safe and have had life-changing experiences. Adult guests have deepened their faith and relationships. And summer staff have learned skills that have impacted the church and world far beyond Lutheridge.
“We are sincerely grateful for 25 summer seasons of this place of grace,” write the Canniff-Kuhns. “In that time, we have seen countless changes, in this ministry – and in the church and world it serves. We are excited about the gifted team of leaders being assembled by [NovusWay Executive Director] Bo Harris to provide vision and guidance for the next chapter of ministry in this place. We give thanks for the opportunity to use our gifts in a way that is meaningful, has an impact and brings joy to our lives.”
To build upon the excellent tradition of faith-filled camp that the Canniff-Kuhns have led, starting January 1, 2020 Deacon Chandler Carriker, who currently serves as Vice President for Program and Engagement at NovusWay, will be the Interim Lutheridge Program Director. Chandler has eight summers of experience at Lutheridge, including two summers as assistant program director. Prior to returning to NovusWay in his current role, Chandler served as the Associate Director for Outreach and Engagement at Lutheran World Relief. “The impact Pastor Tim and Pastor Mary have had on my own life of faith,” says Chandler, “and on my calling in God’s world is one I look forward to passing on to all of our guests here at Lutheridge, young and old. With the team that has been built here at Lutheridge and with God’s grace, I am excited to see what grows.”
We give thanks to God for all that Pastor Mary and Pastor Tim do for the mission and ministry of Lutheridge and for our stakeholders and guests who love this sacred space. As we move towards the end of the year, we will provide opportunities for all impacted by their ministry at Lutheridge to share their gratitude with Pastor Mary and Pastor Tim. We look forward to joining with you in that and the exciting things God has in store for the ministry of Lutheridge.
