NovusWay Ministries (NovusWay, Inc.) is a progressive and growing outdoor ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America located across the southeastern United States that includes the camps and conferencing centers of Lutheridge, Lutherock, Luther Springs and Lutheranch.

Qualifications
The Lutheridge Executive Director shall be a person committed to Jesus Christ and the church and dedicated to working in a church related organization. S/he shall have a growing understanding and appreciation for the unique ministry of church camp and conferencing centers. S/he shall have a bachelor’s degree with at least three years of experience in outdoor ministry and executive level leadership experience. Formal full pastoral education is welcome in this role though not required. S/he shall have experience in supervising staff with the goal of mentoring, team building and developing leadership skills, along with experience in business to include an understanding of the operational needs of a not-for-profit organization to allow for sustainability and growth. S/he shall be effective in identifying key leaders and volunteer staff, shall possess excellent people skills and practice Christian hospitality.

Responsibilities
The Lutheridge Executive Director shall be supervised by the Executive Director of NovusWay/CEO and shall work to grow attendance and outreach; build staff team to positively impact work environment and outcomes; and engage the Lutheridge donors, volunteers, constituents, and congregational partners, along with the surrounding communities and friends in ways to strengthen the ministry. S/he will have overall responsibility for the operations and strategies of Lutheridge to include but not limited to property and facilities, budgeting, program, guests, and food service. The Lutheridge Executive Director shall have the following specific responsibilities:

  1.  Programs and Conferences
    • Oversight of the Lutheridge ministry and environmental programs, hosted ministry retreats and national conferences.
    • Seek input regarding the needs of the local areas along with the constituency to ensure that programs and hosted ministry opportunities meet the needs of all guests, of the surrounding communities, of congregations and of synods.
    • Supervise the Lutheridge Program Director and oversee the development and implementation of year round programs that are Christ-centered and meet the needs of youth, adults and families.
    • Support the Lutheridge Program Director in the hiring of staff as needed and budgeted to implement quality and safe programs.
  2.  Site and Facility Oversight
    • Site and Facilities. Support the Lutheridge Operations Director as s/he fills the upkeep role of site and grounds to care for and to maintain an attractive site, to provide for maintenance and upkeep of
    facilities, to supervise housekeeping staff and to make improvements and basic repairs as needed. The Senior Facilities Consultant is available for technical assistance.
    • Standards. Responsible for development and implementation of internal standards that will impact and enhance the guest experience along with providing preventive maintenance to site and facilities. To include insurance mandates and any other public agency mandates along with site standards that support the uniqueness of the Lutheridge site, the staff team, the strategic plan, and Lutheridge ministry initiatives.
    • Volunteers. Identify and build positive relationships with volunteers while helping staff to provide support and direction to volunteers as they undertake site projects and program needs.
  3. Hospitality and Services
    • Guest Services. Support the Lutheridge Operations Director who supervises guest services staff. When needed, personally provide welcome and hospitality to guests groups and program participants to foster relationship, ministry engagement and to build community.
    • Food Service. Support the Aramark food service operation at Lutheridge by building relationship and clear communication with the Aramark Lutheridge Manager to provide a healthy working environment along with wholesome, nutritious and attractive meals for guests.
    • Marketing. Work in partnership with the Lutheridge staff team, NovusWay Director of Communications along with the Community Engagement Consultant when directed to increase site utilization, to achieve the business plan and to accomplish ministry strategies. Ensure staff presence or be present to provide cross/in-house marketing with on-site guests and groups.
    • Donor Development. Foster Lutheridge donor relationships of time and financial gifts in partnership with the Financial Development Executive Director, to include churches, community groups and individuals.
  4.  Administration
    • As directed, support the Executive Director of NovusWay/CEO in the NovusWay Ministries strategic plan process. Develop internal Lutheridge annual plans and lead staff to accomplish and to meet Lutheridge strategies in support of overall NovusWay Ministries goals.
    • Ensure that facilities and activities comply with all applicable local, state, federal laws and statutes and comply with ACA standards. Oversee the ACA accreditation process at Lutheridge.
    • Be accountable for financial management by working with the Finance and Support Services Executive Director to exercise budget controls.
    • As directed by the Executive Director of NovusWay/CEO continue to build trust and a positive relationship with the Lutheridge residents by working through the Lutheridge Residential Community leadership on timely and clear communication of ministry objectives, celebrations and needs.
    • Provide for necessary reporting and statistics as needed by the Executive Director of NovusWay/CEO

Support
An annual performance review shall be provided by the Executive Director of NovusWay/CEO.
The Lutheridge Executive Director will be a member, lead, or develop various teams and committees to help accomplish the role. For example, these may include but are not limited to the NovusWay Staff Executive Team, Lutheridge Team, NovusWay Ministries Budget Team.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary commensurate with experience and effectiveness.
  •  The Lutheridge Executive Director shall be a Level II employee. This is an exempt position.
  • Health, dental, disability insurance, pension, vacation and annual continuing education provided according to provisions of the NovusWay personnel policies.
