NovusWay Ministries (NovusWay, Inc.) is a progressive and growing outdoor ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America located across the southeastern United States that includes the camps and conferencing centers of Lutheridge, Lutherock, Luther Springs and Lutheranch.

Qualifications
The Lutheranch Executive Director shall be a person committed to Jesus Christ and the church and dedicated to working in a church related organization. S/he shall have a growing understanding and appreciation for the unique ministry of church camp and conferencing centers. S/he shall have a bachelor’s degree with three years of experience in outdoor ministry and executive level leadership experience. S/he shall have experience in supervising staff with the goal of mentoring, team building and developing leadership skills, along with experience in business to include an understanding of the operational needs of a not-for-profit organization to allow for sustainability and growth. S/he shall be effective in identifying key leaders and volunteer staff, shall possess excellent people skills and practice Christian hospitality.

Responsibilities
The Lutheranch Executive Director shall be supervised by the Executive Director of NovusWay/CEO and shall work to grow attendance and outreach, build staff team to positively impact working environment and outcomes, while also engaging the Lutheranch donors, volunteers, constituents, and congregational partners, along with the surrounding communities and friends in ways to strengthen the ministry. S/he will have overall responsibility for operations and strategies of Lutheranch to include but not limited to property and facilities, budgeting, program, guests, and food service. The Lutheranch Executive Director shall have the following specific responsibilities.

  1.  Programs and Conferences
    • Oversight of the Lutheranch ministry and environmental programs, hosted ministry retreats and equine programs.
    • Supervise the Lutheranch Program Director and oversee development and implementation of year round programs. (Programs outlined in the business plan include but are not limited to summer camp for youth, day camps, equine programs, Urban Immersion in Atlanta {servant camp}, environmental education/outdoor school and year round hosted ministry retreats.)
    • Support the Lutheranch Program Director in the hiring of staff as needed and budgeted to implement programs.
  2.  Site and Facility Oversight
    •  Site and Facilities. Support the Maintenance Manager as s/he fills the upkeep role of site and grounds to care for and to maintain an attractive site, provides for maintenance and upkeep of facilities, supervises housekeeping staff and makes basic repairs as needed. The Senior Facilities Consultant are available for technical assistance.
    •  Oversee the contractual agreement with the Barn and Pastures Operator.
    • Standards. Responsible for development and implementation of internal standards that will impact and enhance the guest experience along with providing preventive maintenance to site and facilities. To include insurance mandates and any other public agency mandates along with site standards that support the uniqueness of the Lutheranch site, the staff team, the strategic plan and Lutheranch ministry initiatives.
    •  Volunteers. Identify and build positive relationships with volunteers while helping staff to provide support and direction to volunteers as they undertake site projects and program needs.
  3.  Hospitality and Services
    • Guest Services. Supervise guest services staff and when needed, personally provide welcome and hospitality to guests to foster relationship and build community.
    • Food Service. Supervise and support the food service operation and staff to provide wholesome, nutritious and attractive meals for guests.
    • GIC Course. Responsible for staff leadership of the GIC course and team building activities by ensuring proper training of program, site and volunteer staff or by serving as the leader for various groups.
    • Marketing. Work in partnership with the Lutheranch staff team, NovusWay Communications Director along with the Community Engagement Consultant when directed to increase site utilization, to achieve and update the Lutheranch business plan and to accomplish ministry strategies. Be present or ensure staff presence to provide cross/in-house marketing with on-site guests and groups.
    •  Donor Development. Foster Lutheranch donor relationships of time and financial gifts in partnership with the Financial Development Executive Director, to include churches, community groups and individuals.
  4.  Administration
    •  As directed, support the Executive Director of NovusWay/CEO in the NovusWay Ministries strategic plan process. Develop internal Lutheranch annual plans and lead staff to accomplish and to meet Lutheranch strategies in support of overall NovusWay Ministries goals.
    •  Ensure that facilities and activities comply with all applicable local, state, federal laws and statutes and comply with ACA standards (gradually work toward ACA accreditation).
    •  Be accountable for financial management by working with the Finance and Support Services Executive Director to exercise budget controls.
    •  Provide for necessary reporting and statistics as needed by the Executive Director of NovusWay/CEO.

Support
An annual performance review shall be provided by the Executive Director of NovusWay/CEO.
The Lutheranch Executive Director will be a member, lead, or develop various teams and committees to help accomplish the role. For example, these may include but are not limited to the NovusWay Staff Executive Team, Lutheranch Team, NovusWay Ministries Budget Team.

Compensation and Benefits

  •  Salary commensurate with experience and effectiveness.
  • The Lutheranch Executive Director shall be a Level II employee. This is an exempt position.
  •  Health, dental, disability insurance, pension, vacation and annual continuing education provided according to provisions of the NovusWay personnel policies.
