This morning, at a specially called meeting of the NovusWay Board of Directors, Bo Harris resigned as Executive Director. There have also been other staff changes in recent weeks due to restructuring and people choosing to pursue other opportunities. We will let you know in the coming weeks how you can join the board in celebrating these individuals for their dedicated service and many contributions.
Although these changes are hard, NovusWay is working from a position of strength. We have made it to this point in the pandemic maintaining a strong financial position and just had another wonderful summer of ministry. A summer where children and families who needed a break from the pandemic were able to experience faith formation in a loving Christian Community!
The Board is in the process of appointing an Acting Executive Director, and we will share that announcement with you in the coming couple of days. This appointment will provide trusted leadership to the organization and its four camps for the next month or two while the Board searches for an Intentional Interim Executive Director.
The appointment of an Intentional Interim Executive Director will lead us while the Board completes work on a new strategic plan, which shall be completed by early next year. Our direction as an organization will build on the traditional, successful programs that make our ministry trusted by so many while providing important higher level organizational changes that will enable us to better serve our long-time camp users and bring new people to our programs. Our Intentional Interim Executive Director will facilitate this implementation process as we seek a permanent Executive Director who can best carry forward our mission with the support of our synods, congregations, and individual and family users. During this time, we will also continue to rely on our staff for their expertise and support.
To further our mission, the Board shall appoint a Transition Advisory Task Force to work closely with the Intentional Interim Executive Director and the Board of Directors. This task force will be comprised of key stakeholders including recent summer staff, pastors, synod leaders, donors and others who love all four of our ministry sites and who want to be a part of creating a strong future for our camps.
